2 weeks old and getting into the swing of things!

Happy 2 weeks sweet Colton!  It feels like he's been here with us for forever, and it feels like he was just born yesterday....all at the same time!  This little guy has been such a good baby and has just found his place in our family like he was here all along!  He is so easy-going for the most part and just lets Cooper kiss on him, shove the bink in his face, make ALL kinds of noise around him and touch him whenever he wants....and Colton seems un-phased by it all!  :)
This week we went to look at a few houses and will continue to hunt.  None of them were "it."  We are set to close on our house August 16th so we're feeling the crunch to find something quickly!  One way or another, something will come together and I know we won't be homeless....it's just a bit stressful and overwhelming right now to think about house hunting, getting financing, packing up our house and moving everything, AND adjusting to life with 2 little fellas every day!  :)  but we're slowly getting into a routine and I'm feeling like we're getting into the swing of things.  There are definitely the good moments and the not-so-good moments, we'll just keep hoping to not-so-good moments become less and less and the good moments fill our days more and more!!
This week Colton had his newborn photos done.  I only have a couple sneak peeks at this point but I CAN'T WAIT to see the rest!  He was a bit of a stubborn fella and we didn't even get the first picture until 45 or so minutes into the session; he just wasn't going to miss anything by sleeping through the session!  He really made her work for it, but I think she got some really sweet shots of him!  Here are the couple sneaks I've seen so far....

Here are some updates on Colton for this week:

At 2 weeks Colton:
  • is still wearing newborn sized clothes and diapers
  • sleeps a solid 4 hours at a time at night before waking up to eat and, on average, goes 3 hours between feedings during the day
  • seems to be having a little tummy trouble after eating.  He typically spends about 20-30 minutes after eating in a quite uncomfortable state...until he poops, toots, burps, or spits up.  Not sure if he's having trouble digesting (perhaps the milk in my diet?) or if he's just a gassy baby?  Hopefully we can get that worked out soon because it is pitiful when he's scrunches up or kicks those legs out straight and makes pained faces  :(
  • loves laying on his tummy....I think it has something to do with it hurting, perhaps the pressure on his tummy is comforting to him.
  • is starting to spend more time awake during the day.  Thankfully he isn't doing this at night too much just yet....maybe he won't get his days and nights mixed up! :)  wishful thinking
  • LOVES to be talked to!  When I talk to him really close to his face (so that his little eyes can see me) he just stares at me and watches.  A lot of times if he is fussy or flailing, when you start talking to him he calms right down and just completely relaxes!
As for Cooper:
  • he is WIDE OPEN all the time now!  this kid is total boy through and through!  the other night he was literally running laps around the dining room table and into the kitchen and back....and laughing the whole way!
  • he is SUCH a silly boy!  Talk about having a sense of humor....he has it!  He definitely sees the humor in playing jokes on people (like shaking a rubber snake at mommy and watching her scream!) and doing things that just don't make sense (like wearing daddy's shoes or putting his little people figures into his own shoes)  I love the joy that he radiates in everything he does!
  • is such a good big brother!  he will readily throw away dirty diapers for me, get Colton his binky, rush to Colton's side when he's fussing to see what's wrong, bring a blanket or burp cloth to Colton, and smother him in kisses!  It completely warms my heart to see his love for this little fella who is now a part of our family.  He has adjusted so well!  I know there may still be a day that he's not too fond of the new family member and he may be ready to send him back, but for now....I am cherishing the blessing of my two boys and how well Cooper has adjusted and accepted this change!
  • is still a great sleeper!  He generally takes at least a 2 hour nap and sleeps 12 hours (give or take) at night.
  • is starting to talk a little more and say a few more words.  So far he clearly says: mama, dada, gamma, papa, mmmm (milk), cackas (crackers), bath, ball, bub-bub (bubbles or Bubble Guppies), ocha (Mocha---my mom's dog), Ahhh (Arnold--our dog), nake (snake), occasionally he says awa (water), haaa (hot), go, nah, yeah, pu (pull), ca (car)....and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting.  He will pretty much attempt to say almost anything you ask him to....but it may sound nothing like the word!  :)  we're getting there slowly  :)
  • is a great eater!  He will eat most anything you put in front of him (if he's feeling like it at the moment!) his favorites are definitely yogurt and mac-n-cheese!  He NEVER turns those two things down!  And he LOVES milk....can we say "JUST like his daddy!"  His daddy could eat mac-n-cheese and milk for every meal so he gets that one honestly!  :)
  • loves to be outside, and usually pitches a fit when he has to come in.  I'm really looking forward to cooler temps when we can spend more time outside (comfortably).

ok, now for some more cuteness!:

milk dreams=sleepy grins!  and holy moly....look at those cheeks!

in a milk-induced coma!

sleeping so soundly on his tummy!

ahhh...those cheeks....and little lips....I could kiss them all day long (ok, so I DO kiss them all day long....but shhhhh!)

such a good big brother making sure the bink is in securely!

 Thanks for stopping by!  :)
